  • Blue Jay, 39216 #10, painted in acrylic on a Black Walnut wood slice. The slice came from a tree that had to come down on my parents' place, and I took the original photograph looking out their dining room window. This is the tenth painting from that photo. I haven't counted the sketches and drawings.

  • Monarch butterfly visiting Ironweed, both Missouri natives. The title refers both to the Ironweed and the tough nature of Monarch butterflies, which can often survive the pinch of a bird's bill long enough for the bird to recognize its bad flavor and release the butterfly.
